We Are Here For Good!
We are HERE to be a community of formation and transformation, a place where people come to encounter God, know God more deeply, and reach out to those in need. We are HERE to help address the greatest needs in our community, through partnerships with non-profits, the public schools, and the City. For today, for tomorrow and for a vibrant future, First Christian is HERE for you, your family, and, by extension everyone in our community who needs our support, our care and our connection.
HERE FOR GOOD 2.0 funds are already doing good things! We are pleased to report that we have replaced a 30 ton and 27.5 ton air conditioning units that cool our Sanctuary. We also replaced a 4 ton unit that services our Rotunda. Thank you for making our summer worship and learning experiences very cool.
As of June 30 we had received 114 commitments for a total of $504,258. We are thrilled we have already received $103,499 in cash gifts! That means the $45,000 in matching funds kick in and plans are now in motion to begin renovations of the restrooms off the rotunda.
In 2019 we launched “Here For Good,” for these improvement projects:
New flooring in common spaces, paint, and wayfinding signage
A mission gallery, new coffee bar, refurbishment of Rotunda restrooms
Upgrades to sanctuary lighting and technology
Funds to continue payments on our 2016 parking lot project
We hoped to raise $600,000 over 30 months, and then less than a year later we entered a pandemic.
Even in a pandemic, we accomplished great things!
We replaced tired and worn carpet and flooring in high traffic areas like our Rotunda, Sanctuary hallways, Fellowship Hall, and the Children’s Education Building
We made major upgrades to our Fellowship Hall including a zoned sound system, screens, projector, coffee bar, lighting, paint, and built-in serving bars with storage
We installed new lighting, projectors, cameras, sound equipment, and computers in our Sanctuary to enhance in-person and online worship
Here For Good 2.0
Over the next three years, we plan to complete the remaining Here for Good project dreams deferred by the pandemic, and add a few new projects vital to provide hospitality and comfort for our members and guests.
Refresh our Rotunda restrooms
Invest in branding, wayfinding signage, and visual interpretation of our mission
Replace two aging HVAC units that provide climate control for our Sanctuary
Funds to continue payments on our 2016 parking lot project
Replenish our Strategic Reserve Fund, providing funds for future emergencies
