Director’s Message
Every year, it feels like we go from Halloween to Christmas, skipping Thanksgiving. Shelves at the grocery stores have Halloween on one shelf and Christmas on another. Thanksgiving is a great holiday for us all to stop and think about gratefulness. Talk to your child(ren) about being grateful and let them tell you what they are thankful for. Children learn by our actions as much or more than our words. As parents we can model appreciation for our children. Getting excited and showing how much we love when they make a picture or card for us can really fulfill the need to feel appreciated.
One year when my children were young, we made a thankful jar. All year when we were thankful for something, or God had blessed us, we would write it down and put it in the jar. Then at thanksgiving, we would pass the jar around and read our messages of blessings out loud. It was so wonderful to see all that God had done for us and how great and mighty He is!
Would you join us on November 18 from 4:30-6:00 for our annual Thanksgiving Dinner? Please visit fccedmond.org/register to RSVP so we can be sure to prepare enough food. Looking forward to seeing you and your family!
Blessings,

Teachers of the Month
Lisa Lane has been on staff since March of 2017. She is the lead teacher in Explorers and managing the Curriculum for each classroom! Growing up, Lisa’s family ran a home based day care. Since that time she grew to love working with children. In High School she worked with children in her church nursery and later began a career in Child Care. Lisa has music education experience and uses it to lead music each week for our children who are infant through pre-k! What Lisa loves most about her job is the atmosphere, her co-workers, freedom to teach the way she feels is best for the children in her class and the support she receives from administration. In her free time, Lisa enjoys spending time with her husband and four children and taking part in many leadership roles at her church.
Sonya Jefferson joined our team in September of 2018. She is currently a teacher in the Piglets classroom. Sonya began a career in Child Care because she loves watching children grow. Some of the things she loves about her job are meeting people, loving on children and watching them grow. In her free time, Sonya enjoys cooking, baking, taking care of others and traveling to see her son.
Laura Greene came to work at the Center in January of 2020. She helps in many ways, working with the school age children and floating throughout the Center where needed during the day. Laura grew up with four younger siblings. This experience led her to working in Mother’s Day Out programs, nannying, schools and Child Care Centers. One of Laura’s short-term goals is to become a Master Teacher. Laura’s favorite parts of working at FCC Child Care Center is getting hugs from the kids and hearing their funny stories and jokes. Laura spends her free time with family by going for walks and speaking on the phone. She also enjoys coloring and crocheting.

A Message from Children’s Ministry
As parents, it feels like we are constantly fed a million and one things we’re supposed to be doing to raise good kids. But it can be overwhelming to know where to start.
What if instead of feeling stuck and tired in your parenting, you had a guide to help you know what your kid needs at their current age and phase?
Join our Parenting Through the Phases study to discover what’s changing about your child, six things your child needs most, and four conversations it is important to have at each phase of your child’s development. You’re doing a heroic job parenting your kids, but what if you could move from just surviving each phase of parenting, to you AND your child THRIVING at each new phase?
We’re launching another Parenting Through the Phases class to inspire you, not motivate you, to work harder. Led by Rev. Dr. John Regan the class will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 PM on Wednesday evenings.
Nov. 3 - SESSION 2: Rediscover Your Child Every Year
Nov. 10 - SESSION 3: Make History One Week at a Time
Nov. 17 - SESSION 4: Talk About What Matters
Dec. 1- SESSION 5: Connect Your Child to a Bigger Story
Dec. 8 - SESSION 6: Create a Rhythm in Your Home
The course is a companion to the Phase Guides series, an 18-part series of concise and interactive journal-style books that clarify what parents need to know about each phase of a child’s life, and help you navigate critical issues so you can make the most of every phase.
Blessings,
